Ex Vowed to ‘Never Leave Her Alone,’ Now His Phone Won’t Stop Ringing

When you’re trapped in the grip of a controlling ex who refuses to let go, it can feel like you’re losing your mind. One woman, who had been trying to escape her ex’s harassment since November, finally reached her breaking point.

After months of him ignoring her pleas, blowing up her phone with restricted calls, and even showing up at her job, she decided that if he wanted her attention so badly, she’d make sure he got attention from everyone else, too.

Her story of malicious compliance is a masterclass in petty revenge, but it also paints a chilling picture of a woman desperate for peace.

Here’s how a simple request turned into an all-out war:

Ex Vowed to 'Never Leave Her Alone,' Now His Phone Won't Stop Ringing
Not the actual photo

He wouldn't stop calling, so I let him know what it's like?

Okay, so my ex. He's controlling and manipulative and just flat out mean to me. I've been trying to get away from his grip since November 2023!

I would block his number, but he would call restricted over and over. There was no winning. I finally blocked him for the last time

and ignored every one of his blocked calls. He would reach out to my friends and show up at my job.

I've made police reports but since he's not threatening me they can't do much. So yesterday, I finally answered the restricted call.

I ever so nicely asked him to please just leave me alone. He said he will never leave me alone. I hung up. Enough was enough.

I have signed up for every insurance quote I could think of with his phone number, posting free ads on Craigslist with his number

and anything I can think of. He called again this morning and thanked me because his phone hasnt stopped ringing.

I denied having any involvement and asked why he would think it would be me, and his response was "well because I keep calling and won't leave you alone".

We'll at least he's self aware. He wanted my energy, he's got it. Be careful what you ask for.

You can feel the sheer exhaustion and frustration pouring out of this story. This isn’t just an annoying ex; this is a man who is systematically trying to dismantle her peace of mind. Her decision to turn his phone into a magnet for every telemarketer in the country is the kind of creative justice you can’t help but admire.

The most chilling part of this whole saga is his response. He knows exactly why his phone is ringing off the hook, and he almost seems to be reveling in the fact that he pushed her to this point. His comment, “well because I keep calling and won’t leave you alone,” isn’t an apology; it’s a victory lap.

He sees her reaction, any reaction, as a sign that he still has a hold on her. It’s a classic power play, and it’s deeply unsettling.

Revenge Is Sweet, But Is It Safe?

It’s impossible not to cheer a little for the OP. When the system fails you, taking matters into your own hands can feel incredibly empowering. But her story also wades into some very dangerous waters. While her revenge is digital, the threat he poses is very real.

Stalking is an incredibly common and terrifying experience, especially by former partners. According to the Stalking Prevention, Awareness, and Resource Center (SPARC), an estimated 1 in 3 women and 1 in 6 men are stalked at some point in their lifetime. More often than not, the perpetrator is someone the victim knows.

The tricky part of this situation is the engagement. Any contact with a stalker, even negative contact, can be misinterpreted by them as encouragement. Experts at RAINN, the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization, strongly advise against any form of engagement.

A stalker’s goal is to get a reaction, and by fighting back, the OP may have inadvertently given him exactly what he wanted: a connection, even a hostile one. Her clever revenge is cathartic, but it could also escalate a man who has already promised to “never” leave her alone.

Here’s what the community had to say.

Many users were fully on board with the petty revenge and offered a brilliant array of suggestions to turn up the heat.

manygoodies - Sign him up for scientology and the jehova's witnesses and he will have their constant

(they don't let up) attention for many years to come

Jeffrey_Friedl - If you really cared for him, you'd do better than insurance. ... you'd make sure that religion found him. 😂

benji950 - I'll tell you what, I have never experienced such aggressive phone calls as health insurance brokers.

Within 5 minutes of entering my information, my phone was ringing nonstop.

spirit_of_a_goat - Look up extended car warranty companies, any real estate app,

renewal by Anderson and AMerican Metal Roofs. They're all relentless.

Working-Ad694 - Sign him up for Grindr

KumquatButtpump - Make a Craigslist ad asking for broken appliances. Give instructions on the ad that they should just leave them on his lawn.

Flakb8 - Whatever you do, don’t use mailbait. info or smoremail. com. That would overwhelm his in box.

However, a very concerned group of Redditors urged her to focus on her safety, fearing her actions could provoke a dangerous man.

HusavikHotttie - Girl that dude is gonna murder you. You need better protection from him

Malibucat48 - Stalking is a crime, and there doesn’t have to be a physical threat...

Petty revenge is not enough in this case. You need legal intervention.

HappyMonchichi - Every time you pick up a call from him, it resets his hope back to the beginning and he still thinks he has a chance with you...

Imagine if you died, all his efforts to call you on the phone would end up with nothing and he'll eventually stop. So be dead to him.

Others offered more direct, practical advice to end the harassment for good.

ZeldaLink2001 - Change your number, and make sure no one gives it to him!

Your real friends will stick to that, and then you get to weed out the fake ones.

Y2Flax - Get a phone recording of him saying and admitting this OP…

Aware-Control-2572 - Best way to deal with a nuisance caller is to blow a whistle down the phone!

How to Navigate a Situation Like This

If you’re dealing with someone who will not leave you alone, your top priority has to be your safety. While petty revenge feels good in the moment, it doesn’t solve the underlying problem. Here are a few concrete steps to take.

First, disengage completely. Block the number and do not answer any calls from restricted or unknown numbers. Do not respond to texts, emails, or attempts to contact you through friends. Any response, even an angry one, is a reward for their behavior.

Second, document everything. Create a detailed log of every single unwanted contact. Write down the date, time, and a description of what happened. Take screenshots of call logs and text messages. If they show up at your home or work, note that too. This log is your most powerful tool for law enforcement.

Finally, go back to the police with your evidence. Stalking is a crime of pattern and repetition. A single call isn’t a crime, but hundreds of calls, combined with showing up at your job, is a clear pattern of harassment. With your log, you have a much stronger case to file for a restraining or protective order.

In the End…

The consensus is clear: while the OP’s revenge was undeniably clever, her situation is no laughing matter. She’s dealing with a person who has no respect for boundaries and a chilling sense of entitlement to her time and energy. Her story is a stark reminder that sometimes, the smartest move isn’t to fight back, but to quietly and safely disappear from their world entirely.

What do you think? Was her spam-attack a moment of brilliant justice, or a dangerous escalation that could put her at greater risk? Let us know in the comments.
