Friend Uses His “Do Not Touch” Cream, Then Accuses Him of Secretly Drugging Her

in Social Issues

Staying at a friend’s home usually comes with an unspoken rule: respect the things they specifically tell you not to touch.

But when a simple boundary is ignored, the consequences can become much more complicated than anyone expects, especially when the item involved is something personal and medically important.

That is what happened to this user.

After inviting a close friend over for a sleepover, he gave her a quick tour and clearly pointed out one item she should leave alone.

The next morning, he discovered that she had used it anyway, leading to a shocking misunderstanding and a heated argument.

Scroll down to find out why this small mistake turned into a friendship-ending conflict.

not the actual photo

'AITAH for 'spiking' my friend with my T gel?'

so for a little context i am a trans man and have been on T for a few years

now and all of my close friends are aware of this fact, i am not stealth to

anyone i'm close with.

me (22FtM) and my boyfriend (22M) kinda recently moved in together (

november last year ) and about a month ago finished getting the place

completely sorted since we have both been working a lot. well my

boyfriend went back to his parents house last week to visit since he had a

few days off and i decided to stay home and invite one of my friends (21F)

to stay over in the spare room so we could have a catchup and little

sleepover because we haven't been able to see each other recently.

when she arrived to our place i had just come back from a long shift and

was quite tired so i gave her a pretty quick tour of the place, pointing out

where different things were kept and singling out a single cream i had in a

pump bottle on the bathroom counter when i said ' you can use whatever

you like, just don't use this one '. now, maybe it's on me for not specifically

telling her what the cream was but i assumed basic manners of when

you're at someone's house was that if they say not to use something you

just shouldn't use it.

anyway, we stay up and chat for a little while but as mentioned before i

was pretty tired from my shift so i suggest we head to bed since i have the

next day off and we can spend time together properly and she agrees so

off to sleep we go.

next morning i go into the bathroom right after i wake up and notice my

little pump bottle of cream has moved and there seems to have been quite

a lot used. this pump bottle has my t gel mixed with some hypoallergenic

cream because i have pretty bad eczema and the gel by itself dries my skin

out a little ( yes, discussed with my doctor so i'm still getting the right

doses ), seeing this i'm already panicking slightly because one, i can already

guess my female friend has covered herself in my t gel and two, t gel is also

quite expensive and i have to wait to get my prescription refilled if i run out

early.

i leave the bathroom with the bottle in hand to find her in the kitchen

having just finished making herself a coffee and she seems to instantly

notice me holding it and gives me a half apologetic look, when i ask if she

used it she awkwardly admits she did but doesn't really seem too sorry. in

her words she ' thought it was just some expensive cream that i wanted to

save for myself ' which i still think is a bit of a rude thing to do even if that

was just the reason but when i explain to her what the cream actually was

she paused for a moment before freaking out and asking me what she's

supposed to do, i kinda panicked a bit as well and said i didn't know,

suggesting if she had just put it on then maybe jump in the shower and try

to wash it off because even though i'm annoyed she used it i don't want

her to suddenly get changes she doesn't want.

she then tells me that she put the cream on LAST NIGHT before going to

sleep so the cream has obviously completely soaked in by now and i have to

admit to her i genuinely don't know what to suggest to help her and to

maybe try calling her doctor. she goes quiet for a moment before her face

suddenly screws up in this angry look and she starts yelling that i must've

planned this and that i have basically spiked her with drugs and she should

report me to police for this. i was honestly taken aback and didn't really

know what to say for a moment before reminding her i specifically told her

NOT to use it and asking how it could be my fault she used something she

wasn't supposed to but this ended up setting her off more. after yelling

some insults at me she stormed to the guest room, picked up all her stuff

and then just left.

i'm honestly not sure what to do because maybe i should have labelled the

cream or something ? but also she literally used the one thing i asked her

not to use. my boyfriend doesn't think i did anything wrong but she's been

texting me saying i have betrayed her trust and she never wants to see me

again because ' how could i do something like this ?'. so, AITAH ?

Trust between friends is built on a simple expectation: when someone sets a clear boundary in their own home, that boundary will be respected.

While misunderstandings happen, responsibility usually depends on who ignored the information they were given, not simply on who owned the item involved.

In this situation, the conflict began long before anyone knew the cream contained testosterone gel.

During the house tour, the poster explicitly pointed to one specific bottle and said, “You can use whatever you like, just don’t use this one.”

That instruction was clear, even if the reason behind it was not explained.

The friend later admitted she deliberately ignored the request because she assumed it was simply an expensive moisturizer the poster did not want to share.

In other words, the decision to use the cream was intentional, not accidental.

Once she learned it contained prescription testosterone, her panic was understandable.

Most people would be frightened after realizing they had unknowingly applied medication.

However, fear does not erase the fact that she knowingly disregarded the one boundary she had been asked to respect.

A helpful perspective is that this story illustrates how quickly embarrassment can transform into blame.

Psychologists have long observed that when people realize they have made a mistake with uncomfortable consequences, they often search for an external cause to reduce feelings of guilt or shame.

Accusing someone else can feel emotionally easier than admitting, “I ignored a direct request, and now I’m facing the consequences.” That does not necessarily make the friend’s fear insincere.

It simply helps explain why her reaction escalated from worry to accusations of intentional harm despite the poster having specifically instructed her not to use the product.

Viewed through that lens, both people experienced a stressful morning for different reasons.

The friend feared unintended exposure to medication she never wanted, while the poster worried about both his prescription and his friend’s well-being.

His immediate response, to suggest washing it off if possible and contacting a doctor once he realized it had been absorbed, shows concern rather than malice.

There is no indication that he attempted to trick her or concealed the product in hopes she would use it.

The lasting lesson is that good intentions cannot replace personal responsibility.

Prescription medications should ideally be stored and labeled in ways that minimize accidental use, particularly when guests are present.

At the same time, guests share an equally important responsibility: if someone explicitly says, “Don’t use this,” respecting that request is the safest and most courteous choice.

Healthy friendships depend not only on trust but also on honoring one another’s boundaries.

Let’s dive into the reactions:

These Redditors agreed that she ignored a clear boundary and caused the problem herself

AzraelWoods3872 − NTA. You literally told her not to use it. She came to the conclusion

that you didn't want her to use it because it was fancy and expensive and decided she

wanted it and therefore you don't matter. You told her not to. She ignored you and did it

anyways. This is literally all on her. And she knows it.

She knows she was wrong but will not admit it and is making you the s__pegoat for her

actions. She used the lotion after being told not to. This is entirely on her.

FannishNan − NTA. You told her not to touch it. You're not obligated to tell her why. If

you're a guest in someone's home and they say not to touch something? That's it. No

touchie. She should be fine, it would be repeated doses I suspect before she built up a

change. Well, hopefully other than the change of learning to respect other people's things.

Let her whine. She's just trying to pull a reverse victim uno after being a s__t.

Nothing_Special5645 − How could you think you’re possibly the AH here? She’s a guest in

your house and used something you specifically asked her not to, you don’t owe her any

explanations that’s 100% on her. NTA.

thebloodlessarcanist − NTA, but that "friend" is. Its her own fault for going against what

you said. And even if it was an expensive cream WHO would cover their ENTIRE body in it

after being told to explicitly not use it. She would not be coming back, number blocked and deleted.

ShopSweet6798 − Your friend deliberately used cream because she "thought it was just

some expensive cream that [you] wanted to save for [your]self". She felt entitled to your

"expensive cream", even though you said not to use it.   Whatever happens to her as a

result of using it is on her

gahidus − NTA You did absolutely nothing wrong. She stole from you. She's a thief who

stole from you, and she has absolutely no right to be angry. Her behavior is categorically

wrong. If anyone should be angry, it would be you, and she is a terrible friend.

She's literally a thief who stole from you, didn't know what she was stealing, and is now

mad that you didn't tell her why she wasn't allowed to have the things she stole.

This group emphasized that she knowingly used someone else’s prescription medication and could face consequences

chill_stoner_0604 − NTA tell her to call the police and explain to them why she felt the

need to steal your prescription medicine

Prestigious-Fan3122 − This has to be the silliest thing I've ever heard. Great, while the

police are there taking her report of you "doing that to her," you can report her for illegally

using prescription drugs. /s I would never do so much as dry my hands on a towel my host

asked me not to use.

I certainly wouldn't use any sort of bath or beauty products, or medication, even if they had

invited me to do so. I do keep all sorts of OTC things like acetaminophen, ibuprofen,

Benadryl and diarrhea medicine stocked in our guest bath.

I always make good point when taking people to the guest room to let them know that

there's stuff in that drawer over there, and that they are welcome to it. I told him to please

help themselves to whatever they need.

When the guests have been closer family members, they occasionally come downstairs to

ask if we have some this vet that they can use. Over time, I've added the things we've been

asked about. my husband's aunt once asked for a shower cap and Vaseline. Ever since, I've

left a brand new shower cap and it's plastic bag in that drawer.

Nobody's ever opened it or used it, but it's there if someone wants it.

FollowingBroad34 − OP, your "friend" stole a controlled substance. T is really hard to get

for the people who need it. Trans men are treated like criminals for simply wanting to live.

The behavior the friend exhibited- stealing and misusing Testosterone- is how doctors

accuse trans people of acting. She should be arrested. That's why she brought up the police.

She realized she committed a crime and is scared. NTA but tell your doctor. If police aresafe for trans people where you are, tell them too.

These commenters urged the poster to end the friendship because her behavior showed entitlement and dishonesty

Tired-CottonCandy − Shes a bad person dude. Let the friendship go.

Kwickpick77 − NTA. Stop being friends with that person.

LukaChu_theCat − NTA You and green hair dye in the hair care bottles dude would

probably be good friends. You went through pretty similar situations.

This breakup wasn’t sparked by a single lie, it was the result of deception, manipulation, and a partner who took far more than he ever gave.

Many readers admitted they couldn’t help but laugh at the elaborate sting operation, while others felt the most satisfying part was seeing the poster protect herself and walk away for good.

What do you think? Did she take petty revenge to the perfect level, or did she go too far?

How would you have handled a cheating partner in this situation? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
