The excitement is building for Warner Bros.’ Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, the prequel to the adrenaline-pumping 2015 film Mad Max: Fury Road with Tom Hardy leading the cast, with its newest trailer. This upcoming movie dives into the backstory of Imperator Furiosa, delivering an action-packed spectacle that fans have been eagerly awaiting.
Recently unveiled on X, the new trailer for Furiosa teases the intense rivalry between Anya Taylor-Joy’s Furiosa and Chris Hemsworth’s antagonist, Dementus. The stakes are high as Furiosa battles to settle old scores with Dementus, who has haunted her since her childhood and snatched her away from her homeland. This role is a significant follow-up for Taylor-Joy, and is the actress’ second role this year after her brief appearance in Dune: Part Two.

As we all expected, the new trailer is filled with spectacular action sequences, high-speed car chases in the desert, and heavy weaponry such as javelins and explosives, as Furiosa and Dementus fight for their lives on the barren wasteland. The trailer also hints at how Furiosa lost her arm and shaved her head for her Fury Road appearance.
Chris Hemsworth has hinted that Furiosa will include some of the most extreme stunts he’s ever tackled, describing a particularly wild sequence involving a chariot bike and a monster truck.
“The chariot bike is the wildest piece of machinery I’ve ever driven, and I loved every second of it. I mean, hanging off a crane at one point and being loaded onto a monster truck, and then on the monster truck someone unclips me off a harness and the truck spins away into a burnout. How this world comes from one of the kindest individuals, I’ll never know…” the Extraction star enthused.
Returning to the director’s chair, George Miller crafts this film’s narrative, having originally planned to film Furiosa alongside Fury Road back in 2010. Anna Taylor-Joy replaces Charlize Theron to portray a younger version of Furiosa.
Besides Taylor-Joy and Hemsworth, the prequel also boasts a star-studded cast including Tom Burke as Jack, Alyla Browne as a young Furiosa, and Nathan Jones reprising his role as Rictus, and Lachy Hulme as Immortan Joe, who was portrayed by the late Hugh Keays-Byrne in the 2015 movie.
Set against the backdrop of a crumbling post-apocalyptic world, young Furiosa is captured from the Green Place of Many Mothers and thrown into the chaos of the Wasteland under the Warlord Dementus. Their journey through the desert brings them to the Citadel ruled by The Immortan Joe, where Furiosa faces numerous challenges on her quest to return home, while Joe and Dementus fight to their death for power.
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is set to hit theaters on May 24, 2024, promising to be a thrilling addition to the Mad Max legacy.
