Summary:
- Jennifer Connelly expressed her enthusiasm to return to the MCU alongside her husband, Paul Bettany.
- Connelly already starred as a minor character in Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Betty Ross in the 2003 Hulk film.
- Meanwhile, Paul Bettany has been a staple member of the MCU since the start, voicing Jarvis and portraying Vision.
Jennifer Connelly is no stranger to the superhero genre, recognized for her role as Karen in the 2017 MCU film “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and for playing Betty Ross in the 2003 film “Hulk.” With her rich history in Marvel films and her marriage to Paul Bettany, who portrays Vision in the MCU, it’s not surprising that she’s keen to dive back into the world of Marvel superheroes.
In a recent chat with The Playlist, Connelly expressed her enthusiasm about potentially returning to the MCU, especially if it involves reuniting onscreen with her husband.
“I would absolutely work with them. I think that they make great films and my husband has had such a fantastic time working with all of them and they have such a great group of actors working with them. I would absolutely do it,” she shared.
Connelly’s husband, Paul Bettany, has been an MCU veteran since its founding days. Firstly, he voices Tony Stark‘s AI Jarvis from 2008 to 2014, and then portray the superhero Vision from 104 to 2021. Therefore, it’s only normal for the 53-year-old to want her husband to return as well.
While Karen is rather a minor character in the MCU, Connelly could reprise the role in the upcoming Spider-Man 4, which is currently said to be under development. And since the movie‘s cast, excluding Tom Holland, is still undisclosed, there’s a chance that Connelly’s Karen will make her return somehow.
However, ringing back the actress’ husband, Bettany, to the MCU, is an entirely different matter. After meeting his demise in Avengers: Infinity War, Paul Bettany’s Vision returns in the TV series WandaVision as an illusion that Wanda Maximoff has created to cope with her loss, and as White Vision, a synthezoid created by SWORD to destroy the Scarlet Witch herself.
As White Vision regains his memory and flies away at the end of WandaVision, the character’s future in the MCU remains uncertain. Marvel doesn’t reveal when Vision will return next in the saga, and even if he does, it’s very difficult to put him in the current narrative that the MCU is going.
Only time will tell if Paul Bettany returns to the MCU or not, and if he does, hopefully, his wife Jennifer Connelly will follow suit.
