Evangeline Lilly has announced on Instagram that she is stepping away from Hollywood to pursue a dream she had back in 2006 of becoming a “retired actress.
The actress, known for her role as Hope van Dyne in the Ant-Man series and her breakout role in Lost, shared a heartfelt message about her decision and her future plans.
Fulfilling a Long-Held Dream
Lilly shared a video from 2006 where she expressed her hope to retire from acting in ten years. In the video, she mentioned wanting to have a family, engage in writing, and influence lives through humanitarian work.
This week, she posted the video again, noting she has accomplished these goals, marking her “acting hiatus,” “family and 2 kids,” “writer,” and “humanitarian work” with checkmarks.
In her Instagram caption, Lilly wrote, “I am so filled with joy and contentment today as I live out my vision. Praise God, I feel so grateful for my blessings.”
She continued, “Stepping away from what seems like the obvious choice (wealth and fame) can feel scary at times, but stepping into your dharma replaces the fear with fulfillment. I might return to Hollywood one day, but, for now, this is where I belong. A new season has arrived, and I AM READY…and I AM HAPPY.”
