Summary:
- Skips will return in the Regular Show revival, along with creator J.G. Quintel and Rigby.
- With Mark Hamill confirmed, fans can expect more updates soon.
Mark Hamill has revealed that he’ll be returning to voice one of his most famous characters. While Hamill is best known for playing Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise, with his most recent appearance in The Mandalorian season 2, he’s also gained a lot of praise for his voice acting, especially as the Joker.
Now, according to The Popverse, Hamill announced that he will reprise his role as Skips, the immortal yeti, in Warner Bros. Discovery’s upcoming revival of Regular Show. At Fan Expo Chicago, Hamill shared the news, saying, “There is only one Skips,” and also spoke about the show’s lasting popularity.
“I enjoyed it. It’s got kind of a Beavis and Butthead vibe in that it’s about these two losers who are highly critical of everyone else, Mordecai and Rigby. I didn’t think that one would go. If it were on Adult Swim and they could make pot references and stuff, that’s one thing, but this is for kids.
“Well, 8 seasons later I had to tell [J.G. Quintel], who created it, I had to admit that I didn’t think it would go. I told him the very reason I just told you. It reminded me, maybe I should just write a book of advice, and then people just do the opposite, like George Costanza of Seinfeld.
“Here’s an interesting bit of news. I just heard this last week. They want to do 44 more episodes of Regular Show.
“William Salyers DMed me. He said, ‘Did you hear the news? I’m just worried, are you in or not?’ As if I’ve somehow outgrown them. I wrote him back saying, ‘There is only one Skips, and he’s very much looking forward to meeting with his old pal Rigby.’ He sent me a gif of somebody dancing with joy.”
#1. What Mark Hamill’s Return Means For The Regular Show Revival
The Regular Show revival was first announced in June, with series creator J.G. Quintel returning to lead the project. While few details have been revealed, including the title, Hamill’s confirmation that he will reprise his role as Skips also brings news that William Salyers will return as Rigby, one of the main characters.
With Quintel expected to once again voice Mordecai, the revival is already shaping up with its core cast. The original series followed Mordecai and Rigby’s wild adventures, with Skips as a key supporting character. It’s likely the revival could also bring back other familiar faces, such as Benson, Thomas, and Margaret, along with their voice actors.
#2. Our Take On Hamill’s Return For The Regular Show Revival
Skips was a standout character during Regular Show’s original run from 2010 to 2017, so it’s great news that he will be back for the revival. Revivals often face the challenge of recapturing what made the original series special, but having a core trio of returning characters along with the original creator is a promising start.
With Hamill’s return confirmed, fans can expect more updates about the revival soon. Additional cast announcements may be on the way before the year ends. While a trailer is unlikely to drop before 2025, it’s clear that preparations for the revival are already underway.
