Shawn Levy’s Busy Slate Raises Questions About Avengers Commitment
While Marvel waits for Levy’s decision, the director’s busy schedule could pose challenges.
Levy is set to direct and executive produce the final season of Netflix’s Stranger Things and has a Star Wars project in the pipeline. Given these commitments, Marvel is also meeting with other potential directors.
The upcoming Avengers film, initially titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, is slated for release in 2026.
The title was changed following Jonathan Majors‘ departure from the Marvel Cinematic Universe after his conviction for harassment and assault in December.
Levy’s latest blockbuster, Deadpool & Wolverine, is set to release in July. He explained that the film, featuring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, is not titled Deadpool 3 because it is a “two-hander character adventure.
In an interview with Screen Rant, Levy stated, “It’s the third Deadpool movie, but it’s not Deadpool 3.
It’s a different thing that’s very much Deadpool and Wolverine. And it’s not trying to copycat anything from the first two movies. They were awesome, but this is a two-hander character adventure.”
Marvel fans eagerly await Levy’s decision, hopeful that his unique directorial style will bring a fresh perspective to the Avengers franchise.
