‘My Baby Boys!’: Mom Gets Hauled Out of Wedding After Wild Rant

A wedding day is supposed to be a joyous celebration of love, but for one family, it turned into a spectacle of epic proportions. One Redditor, the best man, shared the story of how his mother’s desperate need for the spotlight led to her being physically carried out of her own son’s wedding reception. From stealing a bridesmaid’s seat to launching a vile, antisemitic tirade, this mother-of-the-groom single-handedly tried to derail the entire event.

Here’s the story, as told by the best man himself.

'Why be reasonable when you can ruin a wedding instead?'

So as I said in my last post, my brother and SIL got married last weekend. Everything went perfectly and my mom was on her best behavior.... Just kidding, but...

I was the best man, so I attended the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. My wife decided to stay in the hotel to minimize interaction with my mom. My mom skipped...

When we entered the restaurant for dinner, I was chatting with my brother and holding my nephew.

My mom comes sprinting over and throws her arms around us and screams "MY BABY BOYS" loud enough for everyone in the restaurant to get quiet and stare.

Then my mom grabs my brother and me and drags us to the dinner (in a private room, thank god.)

She clung to my brother, me, and my nephew and completely ignored my SIL for the entire night except for glaring at her every time she dared to speak at...

Other than that, the dinner was relatively uneventful (and painfully awkward).

The next day, I get up early to go do best man things (as I left, my wife reminded me that if I didn't wrangle my mother, she would divorce...

Before the wedding started, my mom apparently approached my wife and told her that she looked like she was pregnant again so she'd better watch what she ate. She was...

My mom also wailed so loudly during the ceremony that my father actually covered her mouth and shushed her. Other than that, things went ok and everyone seemed relatively pleased...

During photos, my mom kept dragging my brother, my nephew, and me away for shots. She didn't want anyone else in the pictures (including SIL, dad, or sister) and my...

This is where things really started to go bat-[crazy]. The seating plan for the reception had my brother and SIL at the head table with the wedding party and the...

My mom had been trying to convince my brother to let her sit at the head table for months and he refused.

Imagine my surprise when I walked up to the table to find that my mom had taken my little sister's seat (between my brother and me).

My sister was so excited to be a bridesmaid and my mom essentially kicked her out of the wedding party by making her switch seats.

I repeatedly told my mom to move, but she kept arguing

(saying things like "Don't you want to enjoy your mother's company today? I haven't seen you in so long." and "I paid for this wedding and I just want to...

I said no and threatened to call security, so she got up and stalked away. I thought she was going back to her real seat. I was wrong.

Until this point, my wife had been stashed away with some sympathetic cousins and was having a great time.

The bride and groom were just kind of milling around and chatting and at this moment, SIL and my wife were catching up.

I wasn't there for this part, but from what I heard, my mother goes storming up to them and first demands to see my children.

My wife told her that they were with her parents and my mother proceeds to call her family "a bunch of damn dirty [slur]" and says she knew my wife...

SIL steps in to defend her and my mother calls her a whore and says that the only reason she's letting my brother marry my SIL was so my nephew...

According to my wife, my mother also kept throwing around the term "manipulative shrews" which my wife and SIL both thought was hilarious. They started laughing, which just pissed my...

My brother and I heard the ruckus and ran over to help. I've never seen my brother more pissed in my entire life. He got in between SIL and my...

When she refused to leave, he literally threw her over his shoulder and carried her out.

As this is happening, my wife and SIL are laughing so hard they're sobbing, and I'm surprised my mom didn't have a stroke from how loud she was screaming.

She apparently spent the rest of the night having a tantrum in the parking lot because she refused to leave. A couple of my other family members went out to...

The wedding went on after the episode and it was actually a lot of fun. Thankfully, SIL and my wife had a good sense of humor about it (SIL said...

Reading this feels like watching a car crash in slow motion. You know it’s going to be bad, but you can’t look away. The sheer audacity of this mother is breathtaking, from the body-shaming comment to the public wailing and the blatant antisemitism.

What’s truly remarkable, though, is the resilience of the wives. Instead of letting the venom ruin their night, they found humor in the absurdity, a defense mechanism that completely disarmed the mother’s attack. This mother’s behavior isn’t just “difficult”; it points to a much deeper pattern of toxic, attention-seeking conduct.

The mother’s actions throughout the wedding weekend demonstrate a classic case of what happens when a parent with narcissistic traits feels their control and importance slipping away. A child’s wedding is a significant life event that shifts the family dynamic, and for some parents, this is perceived as a threat. They respond by creating chaos to re-center the narrative on themselves.

This kind of friction, especially with mothers-in-law, is unfortunately common. Research highlighted by Forbes shows that a staggering 60% of women report feeling stress and unhappiness due to conflict with their husband’s mother. It’s a dynamic rooted in perceived competition and a struggle for influence.

Psychologists note that individuals with these tendencies often view their children as extensions of themselves. As explained by Dr. Karyl McBride, an expert in the field, for Psychology Today, a narcissistic mother can be intensely competitive with her children and their partners. She may try to steal the spotlight, especially at important events, because she cannot tolerate not being the center of attention.

The groom’s decision to physically remove his mother was an extreme but necessary boundary. It was a clear statement that her behavior would no longer be tolerated. For adult children of toxic parents, establishing and enforcing such boundaries is the only path toward a healthy, independent life.

Check out how the community responded:

First and foremost, Redditors gave a standing ovation to the groom and the OP for having “spines made of vibranium.” They praised the brothers for finally standing up to their mother’s outrageous behavior.

BabserellaWT − Okay, do you and your brother live in Wakanda, because **y’all have spines made of vibranium. **

DollyLlamasHuman − I've never seen my brother more pissed in my entire life. He got in between SIL and my mom and yelled in her face to get the [heck]...

When she refused to leave, he literally threw her over his shoulder and carried her out. Your brother is [freaking] awesome.

Many users were equally impressed with the wives, who handled the verbal assault with laughter and grace, refusing to give the mother the satisfaction of a reaction.

MissFrenchie86 − Your wife and SIL sound like absolute gems. You and your brother are very lucky to have partners who are such good sports with shiny-ass spines!

Ran_dom_1 − *Thankfully, SIL and my wife had a good sense of humor about it (SIL said she was actually expecting worse) and my wife didn't actually divorce me. *

Expected worse? ! Yikes! Both you & your brother had excellent taste when you chose your wives. I like those two, talk about unfazed by crazy!

Of course, many wished they could have seen the glorious moment the mom was carried out.

samanthasgramma − All I can see, in my mind's eye, is the [witch] slung over brother's shoulder, ass high, kicking screaming and STILL being bounced. And I am quite thoroughly...

screwedbygenes − Tell me the photographer got photos of your brother carrying her out. .. tell me someone got video of him carrying her out. ..

Others were quick to point out that this behavior needs serious, long-term consequences, and they highlighted the absurdity of the situation.

endsciencedenialism − A couple of my other family members went out to comfort her, but she was not allowed back in.

Well, at least you know who goes immediately to an info diet!

PommeDeSang − Whatever you guys do, don't rug sweep this [bullcrap].

You, Bro and Dad need to have the mother of all Come to Jesus talks with her. Time out time has come.

[Reddit User] − Other than that, things went ok. I mean, "other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play? "

SnazzyVow − At least people got to see her for who she really is ?

Lol And sorry not sorry but [forget] your mom for trying to hurt your wife using her weight after just having a baby. Makes me so mad 😭😭

Chunkeeguy − I don't know how half a dozen people restrained themselves from giving her a smack her in her filthy mouth.

Not that I would ever encourage violence when a few drops of cyanide in her drink would do the trick. What a piece of work is that woman.

soullessginger93 − Honestly, I'm surprised the venue didn't end up calling the police on her.

And naturally, the dark humor was out in full force, with many joking about the OP’s chances of survival after failing to “wrangle” his mother.

MotivationalCupcake − Your wife didn't divorce you and you're not dead. Two good bonus' for your mom calling her parents damn dirty [slur].

InuGhost − So OP when is your funeral? Since you failed to corral Mom.

Aloevera03 − my wife didn’t actually divorce me. But did she k--l you?

In the end, this story is a powerful lesson in boundary-setting. While the groom’s actions were dramatic, they sent an undeniable message that abuse and toxicity would no longer be tolerated, not even from his own mother. The real victory here belongs to the two couples, who refused to let one person’s meltdown ruin a day of celebration.

What do you think? Was carrying her out the right move, or was there another way to handle it? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
