‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is set to be one of the biggest releases this summer, marking Deadpool’s debut in the MCU and the studio’s chance to correct past missteps. As the Merc with a Mouth joins the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans anticipate he will become a key player in future projects.
Shawn Levy, the director behind ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ has expressed his excitement for this new chapter and revealed in a recent interview with Total Film that he dreams of creating a Deadpool & Spider-Man team-up movie.
#1. A Dream Collaboration
In a recent interview with Total Film magazine, Levy shared his enthusiasm for a potential film pairing Deadpool (played by Ryan Reynolds) with Spider-Man (played by Tom Holland).
“The thing about Deadpool is I think he makes everything more interesting because of his audacity,” Levy said.
“But, boy, I’d sure love to see Deadpool and Spidey. That’s a movie I’d love to make. I feel like Tom Holland would run circles around everyone else.”
Fans of Marvel comics will recall that Deadpool and Spider-Man have a rich history together.
Their dynamic partnership has been featured in the 50-issue comic book series Spider-Man/Deadpool, which highlights the action and humor stemming from their contrasting personalities. They’ve also teamed up in various other comics and share a mutual respect.
In another hand, Wendy Jacobson, the producer, insisted on her vision of Deadpool teaming up with She-Hulk‘s Titania.
“She’s such a heightened, hilarious character and also an actor who can improv and is razor-sharp and can banter.”
“I can’t imagine being an actor, period, but I can’t imagine having to work opposite someone like Ryan Reynolds, who is just so quick and so smart and so funny all the time – but that woman could handle it.”
#2. Will the Dream Become Reality?
While Levy’s vision is certainly exciting, it’s uncertain whether this dream collaboration will come to fruition.
Deadpool’s trilogy wrapped up with ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ which has already made an impressive $879 million globally, according to Deadline.
Meanwhile, Spider-Man’s trilogy concluded with ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home‘ in 2022.
However, there has been growing speculation about a potential fourth Spider-Man film, with Marvel announcing two unnamed movies for 2026.
Both Marvel’s Kevin Feige and Tom Holland have hinted at the possibility of a new script. Could another Marvel crossover film be on the horizon? Only time will tell.
