Strange New Worlds Takes Center Stage as Star Trek’s Main Series
Paramount+ has already renewed Star Trek: Strange New Worlds for Season 4, signaling its confidence in the series even before Season 3 wraps up production.
With its focus on the USS Enterprise, this prequel has become the main Star Trek series on the platform. Following the success of Season 2, which regularly ranked on streaming charts, Strange New Worlds is taking the lead as older series like Star Trek: Picard conclude and Star Trek: Discovery nears its end.
“5 seasons now appear to be a Star Trek series’ new threshold.”
Unfortunately, despite its cost-effectiveness as an animated series, Star Trek: Lower Decks will end after Season 5, similar to Star Trek: Discovery.
The landscape of streaming services is evolving, and with Paramount potentially up for sale, it seems that reaching five seasons is now the new standard for a Star Trek series.
While the renewal of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds for Season 4 brings joy to fans, the conclusion of Lower Decks is equally disappointing.
