With The Boys Season 4 not even having premiered yet, Prime Video further excited fans by announcing another piece of great news: the show has already been renewed for Season 5.
This piece of great news was announced during the platform’s first-ever Upfronts presentation, consolidating the commitment to one of its dearest originals. In addition to the main show, The Boys has two spin-offs: the animated The Boys Presents: Diabolical and the live-action Gen V, renewed for the second season.
The renewal announcement comes almost a month to the day before The Boys Season 4 premieres on June 13, when the season begins with three episodes before moving to a weekly schedule on July 18.
Showrunner Eric Kripke reflected on the series’ trademark blend of wild, gory action, social commentary, and satire in a statement.
“The Boys could be the best job I’ll ever have. What other show allows me to write about politics, capitalism, family, and exploding genitalia, though not in that order,” said Kripke.
The cast and crew are deeply grateful to Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios for the opportunity to tell this story for another season. My only problem is that since this year promises to be free of any conflict or misinformation, we’re not sure what to write about.”
In another statement, Amazon MGM Studios Head of Television Vernon Sanders wrote that the company’s “proud of this series that has grown into a global franchise,” while Sony Pictures Television Studios President Katherine Pope added that “we can’t wait to see where Eric Kripke and The Boys go next.”
Since premiering on Prime Video in 2019, The Boys has quickly become one of the services’ signature series. Amazon says its own numbers show viewership has gone up between each season.

Meanwhile, internal strife continues to haunt The Boys, struggling with the absence of their former leader, Billy Butcher, portrayed by Karl Urban, whose duplicity has left them disillusioned.
