They didn’t expect to run into each other once more.

The two met at the G’Day USA gala in 2005. Nicole was in love at first sight, but her concerns surfaced when Keith didn’t call her for four months following their initial encounter. The A-lister admitted during an interview, “I remember thinking, I had such a crush on him, and he wasn’t interested in me.”

Keith Urban reacted in an identical manner, “I swear to you, she glided across the room, floated. I don’t know how she did it. It was out of this world…’” He didn’t have the nerve to call her since he thought his chances were one in a million. When he finally did take the jump, though, it was all worth it. Keith said, “We started talking, and we talked and talked and talked and talked, and it was effortless.”

Nico knew Keith was the one right away

Keith surprised Nicole with a bunch of roses on the stoop of her New York home for her 38th birthday. Despite the fact that they had only been dating for six months, she knew right away that he was the one. Nicole said, “That is when I went, ‘This is the man I hope I get to marry.’”

The delighted pair married in a lovely ceremony in Australia in June 2006. However, they were immediately confronted with their first obstacle.
Keith was experiencing through a difficult time and needed to get some things straightened out, so he entered rehab. Nicole had always been a rock for him. In Keith’s own words, she stood by him, “I was spiritually awoken with her. I use the expression ‘I was born into her,’ and that’s how I feel.”

They became parents two years later.

The couple brought their first daughter, Sunday Rose Kidman Urban, into their family on July 7, 2008. Nicole already had two children from her previous marriage to Tom Cruise, Isabella and Connor. She and Keith then welcomed their next girl, Faith Margaret Kidman Urban, through a surrogate mother in 2010.

Nicole occasionally wishes she and Keith had known each other when they were both in their twenties so that they may have had more children together. Regardless, they both consider themselves extremely fortunate to have such beautiful kids and take advantage of every opportunity to spend quality time with them, whether it’s accompanying Keith on his concert tours, visiting Nicole on set, or simply hanging out in their Nashville home.

Nicole’s father passed away abruptly in 2014, which was a devastating blow to the actress. She was upset, and Keith was the one who helped her overcome her loss this time.
“When you have your partner who just literally carries you through a tough time, he’s been amazing to me,” Nicole shared said. “To have my husband to step up in that way, it makes me cry. He’s amazing. I will keep him. I’ll do anything for that man.”

They appear to have a stable relationship based on respect for their spouse, their careers, and the life they made together after 15 years of marriage and two daughters. The key to their great marriage, according to Keith, is that there isn’t one element that makes a partnership work. “Everybody figures out what works for them. We’ve figured out what works for us.” Whatever it is, we know they will have a lifetime of happiness ahead of them.
