As shown in the New York Medical Examiner, Erik Cowie, a zookeeper who starred in Netflix’s Tiger King, passed on September 3 from acute and chronic alcohol addiction. He was 52 years old at the time.

Erik Cowie was discovered dead in a Brooklyn apartment complex bedroom at about 5:30 p.m. local time on Friday. NBC‘s local New York network confirmed his name with the NYPD yesterday, despite the fact that authorities did not initially make it public.
According to a spokesman from the Medical Examiner’s office, the reason and cause of death are still being investigated after the investigation.
Who is Erik Cowie?
Erik Cowie served as the Head Keeper of Joe Exotic’s now-defunct G.W. Exotic Animal Zoo in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, where he was closely involved with the wildcats. He spent five years at the zoo.
Exotic is spending a 22-year jail term for offenses involving his animals and a murder-for-hire plan on his rival Carole Baskin. During Exotic’s 2019 trial, Cowie testified against his old boss, alleging that Exotic shot 5 tigers to make room for extra tigers. “I knew what was going on,” Cowie said, despite the fact that he just heard the gunfire and did not witness Exotic shoot the animals. According to TMZ, which broke the story first, no narcotics were found at the site.
