Jeffrey Donovan, a famous Burn Notice star, has been cast as a character in NBC’s forthcoming Law & Order reboot. In Season 21 of Dick Wolf’s legendary crime thriller, he will portray a new character, an NYPD investigator. Together with a few high-profile new cast members, led by Jeffrey Donovan, the upcoming season is likely to include numerous Law & Order alums, with Sam Waterston and Anthony Anderson reportedly in discussions to reunite.
The upcoming Law & Order, from Wolf and writer-showrunner Rick Eid, will follow the old divided model, examining “the cops who uncover crime and the district attorneys who prosecute the perpetrators” once again.
Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television, a part of Universal Studio Group, create Law & Order. Executive producers include Wolf, Eid, Arthur W. Forney, and Peter Jankowski.
This is Jeffrey Donovan’s first appearance on television since his starring part as former CIA officer Michael Westen in the smash USA series Burn Notice, which lasted 7 seasons. Donovan most recently participated in Season 2 of FX’s anthology show Fargo and starred in Hulu’s Shut Eye. Jeffrey Donovan will next be seen in STX’s National Champions, which stars J.K Simmons and will be released later this month. In 2022, he will appear in three films: MGM’s Western Surrounded, in which he will star with Letitia Wright and Jamie Bell; hostage thriller 892, in which he will star alongside John Boyega and Michael Kenneth Williams; and marital drama First Love, in which he will star alongside Diane Kruger. ICM Partners, Anonymous Content, and attorney David Matlof represent him.
