The story of Haikyuu!! follows the small yet athletic Shoyo Hinata, who has an undying love for volleyball. After suffering a devastating loss against the team of the volleyball genius Tobio Kageyama in secondary school, the two join the same Karasuno High School, and start teaming up to bring the collapsing team to the national tournament.
With their distinctive abilities, Hinata and Kageyama invent a unique move of their own, and the team slowly improves, beating fearsome opponents such as Oikawa’s Aobajosai, Ushiwaka’s Shiratorizawa, and the Miya twins’ Inarizaki on the way. The upcoming movie takes place in the third round of the national tournament, after Karasuno High has defeated Inarizaki to set up a rematch with Kenma’s Nekoma.
