Pepe Le Pew, The French Skunk Has Been Targeted By The New York Times

The New York Times has addressed Pepe Le Pew, the cartoon French skunk whose seductive interests have chased generations of girls.

In a tweet today, columnist Charles M. Blow alleges that the Looney Tunes figure “added to rape culture.”

“RW blogs are mad bc I said Pepe Le Pew added to rape culture. Let’s see.

1. He grabs/kisses a girl/stranger, repeatedly, w/o consent and against her will.
2. She struggles mightily to get away from him, but he won’t release her
3. He locks a door to prevent her from escaping.”

Yes, that is correct… Penelope Pussycat was frequently captured by Pepe.

Rifles were previously removed from Looney Tunes’ revised representations of Elmer Fudd.

In an op-ed headlined “Six Seuss Books Bore a Bias,” Blow attacked Dr. Seuss. Early exposure to bad pictures, he claims, influences perceptions. One of the negatives he highlighted was Speedy Gonzales, a Mexican mouse cartoon.

Naturally, Blow’s view elicited various reactions on the internet. But he isn’t the only one who thinks this way. In a great act, comedian Dave Chappelle pointed out the same thing:
