Student Blinds Bully Teacher With Neon Fashion Revenge

In high school, OP faced relentless bullying from a teacher, who mocked their clothes and behavior, even as head of the student government OP was part of. During spirit week’s neon day, the teacher publicly shamed OP for not dressing vibrantly enough.

In response, OP embraced an ultra-neon wardrobe, frustrating the teacher to the point of moving them to the back of the class. Was OP wrong for this bold retaliation?

This story is a creative take on standing up to bullying. Did OP go too far? Let’s dive into the details and see what the online community thinks.

Student Blinds Bully Teacher With Neon Fashion Revenge

'Don't like what I wear to school? Fine, then go blind?'

Back in high school, I had one teacher who would bully me outright. He would openly mock my clothes, questions, or even how I talked in front of my peers.

He even acknowledged the behavior, as though being sassy and sarcastic to students was a source of pride.

It is important to note that this teacher was also in charge of the student government, which I was a part of.

Our student government organized a spirit week with theme days where students are encouraged to dress up and engage with different theme days throughout the week.

Neon day came around, and I didn't have any real neon clothes. I wore some shoes with electric blue stripes, and while it wasn't much, I hoped for the best.

Unfortunately, I ran into the aforementioned a**hole teacher, who then yelled at me in the hallway, shaming me in front of everyone.

Essentially, he went off on me because I was student government, and according to him, I was not putting in enough effort for the event we organized.

I tried to brush it off, but not too long after, I went shopping with my family and found a fluorescent orange windbreaker jacket. This is where the fun began.

I proceeded to find the brightest neon orange shorts to match, and several highlighter yellow shirts.

I decided at this point to make it my personal fashion style to be neon, 24/7. For the first week, the teacher mocked my fluorescent fashion choice.

However, after about a week, he realized it was physically difficult to look in my direction and made the mistake of admitting it to me.

I knew what I had to do then. I kept this fashion statement going for a year and a half until graduation, frustrating him every day.

Soon, he had moved me to the back corner of the class because he couldn't see while lecturing.

It coincidentally became a lot harder for him to make crappy remarks when he couldn't even look at me.

This story showcases a student’s creative response to a teacher’s unacceptable bullying. The teacher’s behavior was unprofessional, as educators are responsible for fostering a safe, respectful learning environment.

Education expert Dr. Becky Bailey notes, “Teacher bullying can cause lasting psychological harm, and students finding ways to assert themselves is a notable form of self-protection” (Conscious Discipline).

OP’s neon fashion retaliation, while effective and humorous, highlights a lack of school intervention, as the teacher’s behavior warranted administrative action.

OP could have reported the issue for a formal resolution, but their approach cleverly reclaimed control without direct conflict. The teacher should face consequences for unprofessional conduct, and schools need systems to protect students from bullying.

This case emphasizes the importance of confronting bullying and the need for supportive school systems.

Here’s what Redditors had to say:

Reddit enthusiastically supports OP, praising their creative revenge and condemning the teacher’s bullying. Some share similar experiences, highlighting issues with teacher misconduct. Here’s a roundup of reactions.

Many applaud OP’s clever retaliation.

VBunns − I love that! You controlled what you could, which was your appearance.

[Reddit User] − It's like you are the one teaching him. You deserve extra credit!

[Reddit User] − I’m sorry you had to go through with that awful a**hole, but you know what? You got your revenge on that f**ker. Good job.

Some criticize the teacher’s unprofessional behavior.

H3rta − As a teacher, this is so painful for me to read. I'm embarrassed to consider this disgrace a "colleague".

You should have gone to the admin about this unacceptable behaviour!

You didn't deserve any of that, and as the adult in the situation, they should have known better or at least really have been checked by another adult.

hawa11styl3 − I will never understand what makes a grown ass adult think it’s acceptable to bully a child. Smfh.

RAZORthreetwo − Are there neon shirts that are white or off white?

Always wanted to be an elf who shines a ridiculous amount of white light around oneself with those dope pointy ears.

Edit: So the answer is no. The only way left is to tape an LED bulb behind my back and turn it on for some moments while talking to friends....

agh2703 − Why do people who hate children go into teaching? I don’t understand.

sumthingluving − Imagine being a grown adult, and a teacher too, and picking on a teenager.

Geilis − I must say, when reading the title, I thought you really made him go blind. Like you threw acid at him or something...

Joint-User − At least you were the brightest student in class! Ha!

[Reddit User] − I am a teacher. If any of my students come to me with issues like this, I would bring it to the table with the other teacher...

A few share experiences or add humor.

d_nijmegen − I had a teacher like this. 20 years later, I still want to be alone in a locked room with him. All I need is a few minutes.

Note_Ansylvan − When your teacher is a twat so you just become the living flashbang.

Neko-Akuma − Oh god, don’t I understand that, my 7th grade English teacher was the worst.

She’d openly mock me about my mom's accident (she fell down the stairs while at work and shattered her hip bone) and my dad always being at work.

I wouldn’t stand for it, so I found the best song (if y’all want to know, it’s: Calm Down by Krewella) and I played it from my headphones at full...

Some of the lyrics are “you ain’t my therapist, ain’t got the formula” which tie into the fact she kept calling me disabled because I’m ADD and need to use...

The-CerlingCat − What a revenge story, it made me laugh, thank you.

OP wasn’t wrong for using a neon wardrobe to retaliate against a bullying teacher, turning a negative situation into a creative assertion of control. Reddit cheers OP’s ingenuity and condemns the teacher’s unprofessionalism.
