While details about Olyphant’s character are being kept under wraps, sources reveal that he will portray Kirsh, a synth serving as a mentor and trainer for Chandler’s character, Wendy.

Wendy is described as a hybrid, possessing the consciousness of a child within the body of an adult. Olyphant joins a main cast that includes Alex Lawther as soldier CJ, Samuel Blenkin as CEO Boy Kavalier, Essie Davis as Dame Silvia, Adarsh Gourav as Slightly, and Kit Young as Tootles.

Executive produced by Ridley Scott, the Alien series is set before Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley and marks the franchise’s first story set on Earth, approximately 70 years in the future.

Production commenced in Thailand on July 19, shortly after the start of the actors’ strike, with filming continuing for over a month, primarily with cast members affiliated with the British trade union Equity.

Production is expected to resume in early 2024, potentially in January. All scripts for the Alien series were completed prior to the WGA strike called in May.

Olyphant has been a prominent figure at FX, starring in the network’s acclaimed drama Justified and its limited series follow-up, Justified: City Primeval.

Aside from his notable role in Fargo, Olyphant was a series regular on Season 2 of FX’s Damages. He is represented by UTA and Shelter PR.
