Woman Gets Petty Revenge After a Bad Parker Blocks Her at the Mall for Five Minutes

Parking lots can turn perfectly ordinary errands into miniature battles, especially when someone decides the usual rules do not apply to them. Most people would probably rather find another spot and move on, but every now and then, someone’s parking stunt is irritating enough to inspire a little creativity.

The OP spotted an empty parking space near the entrance of a Michigan mall, only to have another driver approach from the wrong direction and take several painful minutes to squeeze into it.

After finally claiming the spot, the driver still managed to park crookedly. Instead of confronting her again, the OP came up with a different way to return the favor. He left something on her windshield that was designed to create one very confusing moment. Scroll down to see what he wrote!

She blocks traffic to steal a parking spot, so I leave a fake note claiming I damaged her badly parked car

not the actual photo

'Karen wastes my time bullying her way into parking spot, I waste her time later'

This morning at Woodland Mall in Michigan, I spotted an empty spot near the mall entrance.

The lot were angled and was meant to be one way driveway but Karen also spotted it and came down the other side, going the wrong way.

Then she took about 5 minutes doing 427 point turn to get into the angled parking spot, blocking me and inconveniencing a few more drivers behind me.

When she finally got out, I did a lazy golf clap and said "My blind grandma could have parked faster than that.".

"BuT i GoT hErE fiRsT!" (no b__ch, you bullied your way here)

When I drove on past her car, I noticed it was still very crooked and badly parked so I decided this revenge.

After I found another parking spot, I got the paper and pen out and wrote this in "Sorry I bumped your car.

You parked badly and I had a hard time getting out" No phone number, no insurance info, nothing. Then I put the paper in her car's wipers.

I have no doubt when she got back, she'd spend a long time looking for nonexistent scratch or dent on her car.

You waste my time making stupid move to get good parking space, I waste your time with something that never happened.

There is something deeply satisfying about reclaiming a little control after someone else has made you feel powerless. When another driver wastes your time, blocks your path, and then acts as though you were the unreasonable one, the temptation to “teach them a lesson” can become stronger than the original annoyance.

That appears to be what happened to the OP. The parking dispute itself was relatively ordinary: another driver entered an angled, apparently one-way area from the wrong direction, struggled to maneuver into the space, and left several cars waiting behind her.

The OP then mocked her parking, received the predictable “I got here first,” and moved on. What changed the situation was the decision to leave a false note claiming that the car had been bumped. The revenge was designed around uncertainty rather than actual damage, the OP wanted the other driver to spend time searching for a scratch that did not exist.

Psychologically, this is a form of retaliatory restoration. When people feel that someone has violated a social rule without consequence, they can become motivated to restore a sense of fairness by imposing a cost of their own.

The interesting part is that the punishment does not necessarily need to be proportionate to the original offense. The emotional reward comes from seeing the other person experience some of the frustration they caused.

Psychologist Susan Krauss Whitbourne, Ph.D., has discussed how revenge can provide a temporary sense of satisfaction because people perceive retaliation as restoring fairness after being wronged.

Yet research on revenge also suggests that repeatedly focusing on the offense can keep the original anger alive rather than resolving it. Her discussion in Psychology Today explains that the desire for retaliation is often connected to our strong sensitivity to perceived injustice.

That makes the OP’s prank understandable without making it harmless. The false accident note probably produced a moment of satisfaction precisely because it reversed the emotional roles: the person who had caused frustration would now be the one wondering what happened.

But it also introduces an unnecessary layer of anxiety into a situation that could have ended when the OP found another parking space. If the other driver had reported the supposed collision, confronted the OP, or checked surveillance footage, a petty parking dispute could have become much more complicated.

The irony is that both drivers allowed a parking space to become a contest over dignity. One person apparently prioritized winning the spot; the other prioritized getting the last laugh. Neither gained anything meaningful from the encounter.

A healthier form of revenge might simply be refusing to give the original offense any more of the day. The OP already found another space and got where she needed to go. Sometimes the most effective way to defeat someone else’s bad behavior is to stop letting it dictate what happens next.

Here’s the comments of Reddit users:

These Redditors cheered the harmless revenge and praised its perfectly petty execution

Far-Adhesiveness3763 − Love it, harmless revenge but so petty

eRant4881 − This is the level of petty revenge I aspire to, thank you for holding the torch high and bright for us all to see! 🔥

skate1243 − This is incredible. Hats off to you for legitimate petty revenge

Hairflipgiggle − Note to self: keep a notebook in my glove compartment. Love this pettiness!

These commenters enjoyed how the fake warning could keep the inconsiderate parker worried for hours

CatlessBoyMom − That’s going to be parked in her mind for months.

cantfindauniquename2 − I like this one. You could also add, "I will be back in 20 mins if you want to exchange details"

Significant_Net101 − One time I left a note to this pettty ass lady who stole my spot.

“Hey there was a guy under your car I honked and he got out he had tools in his hand drive safe”

These Redditors shared personal stories of creative retaliation against people who stole parking spots

FreedomPretty6893 − I’ve done that before plus hung poster board off the back window with

“look ma I can park” or “a__hole parking” and wait outside to see their reaction

lrm223 − My uncle's secretary was waiting for a spot at the mall and someone came from the other direction and took the spot from her.

After she found another spot, she walked back and let the air out of two of the tires.

She did two because she figured that if only one was flat, the driver could use the spare.

But two meant they'd probably have to call AAA. This was also like 40 years ago so no one had cell phones.

livadeth − Love this! I was in a parking lot recently, two way lane, saw a spot about the same time as a young lady coming down the opposite way.

She was determined to get the spot and I had no intention of fighting over it.

Well she decided to cut right in front of me to get the spot and in so doing misjudged the pillar and slammed/scraped into it!

I smirked and pulled around her. She made a mess of her front end.

Was this harmless comedy or a step too far? Would you laugh after discovering there was no damage, or immediately swear off parking beside strangers forever? And honestly, how petty would you have been?
