Husband Sends Wife An AI-Generated Video Of Him With Another Woman, Hinting Harassment And Marriage Rupture

A wife’s cozy wine night with friends shattered when her husband, seated across the table, sent an AI-faked video of himself kissing a coworker. Her gut twisted, smile vanished, while he smirked like it was peak comedy. The four-year marriage to her high-school love teetered on a “joke” that detonated into a screaming match and separate beds.

Reddit’s exploding with razor-edged hot takes. Some hail the prank as harmless pixels, others slam it as emotional sabotage that nukes trust. Users dissect every frame, debating if digital lips equal real betrayal or if she’s torching a solid union over code.

A woman’s marriage teeters after her husband shares an AI kiss video as a joke.

'Am I the A-hole for Feeling Hurt by an AI Video?'

My husband (34) and I (30) have a history that goes way back. We were each other's first kiss as teenagers and reconnected years later.

We've been together for 9 years and married for 4, and he's always been the most amazing, loving person I know.

Last night, something happened that really broke my heart. We were having wine with friends when my husband, who was sitting right across from me, messaged me.

I opened it and saw an AI-generated video of him kissing a female coworker.

As I watched it, my face dropped while he just smiled, waiting for my reaction.

I tried to keep my composure while our friends were there, but after they left, we had a difficult conversation.

My husband insisted I was overreacting, saying it was just a joke and that he didn't even "do" anything

since it was an AI video created by another male coworker. I told him that wasn't the point.

What hurt me was that he found it funny and was so dismissive. When I asked him what his reaction was in their work group chat,

he said, "I had no reaction because it's not a big deal." That's when things escalated.

I explained that the video was disrespectful not only to me but also to his female coworker.

To have no reaction, to treat this as a non-issue, was deeply concerning.

Our marriage is built on trust, and while I understand workplace jokes, this crossed a major line.

We ended up fighting all night and slept in separate rooms. I told him that if he couldn't see why this was a problem,

then our marriage might not be as solid as I thought, and I'm now considering divorce.

So, am I the a__hole for getting this upset over a video that wasn't even real?

This Redditor’s tale isn’t just about an AI-generated video. It’s about trust, respect, and where the line blurs between “funny” and “foul play.”

Let’s break it down. The husband’s defense? “It’s not real, so chill.” But emotions don’t run on logic, they run on impact. Sending a video of himself kissing another woman, even digitally, in front of friends, then dismissing his wife’s hurt? That’s not a prank, that’s a power move. It screams, “Your feelings don’t rank.”

And the coworker? She might not even know her face is starring in this digital drama. That’s not just awkward, it’s a potential HR nightmare.

Flip the script: maybe the husband genuinely thought it was silly workplace banter. Some offices thrive on edgy humor (think The Office but with less HR oversight).

But context matters. Sharing it with his wife, the person who’s supposed to feel most secure, turns a dumb joke into a gut punch. His lack of reaction in the group chat is complicity. Silence isn’t neutral when disrespect is on the table.

Zoom out, and this taps into a bigger issue: digital boundaries in relationships. A 2023 Pew Research study found that 1 in 5 adults have experienced some form of technology-facilitated abuse or harassment in relationships, from invasive tracking to public humiliation. AI deepfakes add a sinister twist. Anyone can be “caught” in a compromising moment without consent.

Relationship expert Dr. John Gottman, renowned for his decades of research on marital stability, captures the essence of this dynamic: “Couples with a strong friendship have a lot more access to their humor, affection, and the positive energy that make it possible to have disagreements or to live with them in a much more constructive and creative way. It’s about earning and building up points.”

In this case, the Redditor’s pain is valid, but so is the need for repair. A sincere apology, a shutdown of the “joke” at work, and a convo about boundaries could rebuild trust. But doubling down? That’s a red flag waving in 4K.

Gottman’s insight underscores how humor thrives in relationships built on a foundation of friendship. Without it, even a “harmless” prank can erode the goodwill that turns conflicts into opportunities for closeness rather than chasms.

What’s the play? Open communication, zero tolerance for dismissive “you’re overreacting” vibes, and maybe a joint session with a counselor.

Reddit’s screaming “divorce,” but ultimatums rarely fix root issues. Still, if he can’t see the problem, the marriage might need more than a software update.

Here’s the feedback from the Reddit community:

Some call the video harassment and urge HR involvement.

Ketzer_Jefe − That's the kind of thing that any HR would consider s__ual harassment. Especially if the woman in it has no idea it was made.

heyitsmekelly − time for an anonymous submission to HR, I bet they'll find it hilarious!

meganelke − NTA. This is not funny, manipulative to share it while in others company, disrespectful to you and demeaning about your relationship.

But on top of that it’s workplace s__ual harassment towards the coworker (who potentially has no idea and did not consent)

and the fact he shared it to you and didn’t shut it down in the work related group chat means he’s implicit in the harassment.

It shows huge ethical and interpersonal issues, I’d be questioning what else you don’t know about him

Some stress the husband’s disrespect for OP’s feelings.

MysticBloomingg − That would hurt a lot of people. It’s not about the video being fake, it’s about him thinking it’s funny to send you that in front of friends

and then acting like your feelings don’t matter. He could have just apologized and said he didn’t think it through, but instead he doubled down.

I get that some people joke around differently, but if your partner tells you something hurt them, you gotta take it seriously.

StraightOuttaMajha − You’re not overreacting its not about the video being real its him showing zero respect for your feelings.

FormSuccessful1122 − I mean divorce is a leap if you’re otherwise happy. But this was an absolute bone head move and you have every right to be upset.

“Look honey! It’s me fake cheating on you! Isn’t that funny???” I can’t imagine why he’d think you’d want to see that.

Also, I’m slightly concerned as to why his coworkers thought to create it…

Some worry about the female coworker’s consent and safety.

PinkSpaceKitty − NTA and wtf is going on in that workplace???

Apologies if you addressed this in your post and I missed it but does SHE know this video exists?

Because holy hell how horrifying for her if she doesn't? So, we have:

1. One coworker who made an AI video of two of his coworkers kissing.

2. At least one of those people is MARRIED.

3. The married person thinks this video is funny and shows it off.

4. Including to his own WIFE. On purpose.

5. The other party in the video may or may not know it exists and that her likeness,

portrayed engaging in this activity, is circulating around with her coworkers. My god this is all so awful.

I feel like that workplace needs to see that video to protect that woman...but then you'd be potentially jeopardizing your husbands job

which would affect your family. I'm so SO sorry, OP. You are so very NTA for not finding this funny, because it's not. My heart goes out to you.

Some question the husband’s judgment and maturity.

Turbulent_Ebb5669 − Sheesh, if that's what he finds funny, he's got a bucket load of issues.

ElisaBlack − what the f__k? what an odd thing to do

1lifeisworthit − A. Paragraphs are your friend.

B. Your husband is not. NTA, and neither is his female co-worker. I'd be so outa that marriage I'd be a blur.

This Redditor’s world tilted over a “fake” video, but the real damage was her husband’s shrug. Trust isn’t pixel-deep. It’s built on empathy, and his was offline.

Do you think her divorce threat was a fair wake-up call, or did she escalate too fast? How would you handle a partner who laughs off your heartbreak? Drop your hot takes!
